Short biography of Kim Tasso

Kim Tasso BA(Hons) DipM FCIM MCIJ MNCPS (Acc.) MBACP MBA is managing director of RedStarKim Ltd. She is an independent management consultant, specialising in the professional services sector, with over 30 years’ experience. She is also a qualified psychotherapist and director of Tasso Talking Therapy Ltd (see Counselling and Psychotherapy by Kim Tasso)

After qualifying in psychology and working for several years in the technology sector in marketing and sales roles she worked for leading professional service firms (Deloitte and Nabarro). She started her own business in 1994. She has worked for over 300 clients including: solicitors’ firms, barristers’ chambers, patent attorneys, accountancy practices, insolvency practitioners, actuaries, surveyors, marketing services agencies and management consultants.

She advises on and provides training and coaching in the strategic and operational aspects of management, change, marketing, selling and client relationship management. She has published seven books (on selling and business development, media relations and social media, soft skills, growth strategies and business relationships) and hundreds of articles. She held Non-Executive Director positions in the property industry and was a Trustee of a mental health charity.

Long biography of Kim Tasso

Kim Tasso BA(Hons) DipM FCIM MCIJ MNCPS (Acc.) MBACP MBA is an independent management, strategy, marketing and business development consultant, specialising in the professional services sector, with over 30 years’ experience.

Qualifications and affiliations: She is qualified in psychology (British Psychological Society recognised and an accredited psychometric assessment tester), has a management of business administration (MBA) masters’ degree, a post-graduate diploma in marketing, a diploma in professional coach/mentoring and is a qualified NLP practitioner. She also qualified in integrated therapeutic counselling (level 5). She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and a registered marketer. She is a member of the Professional Marketing Forum, the Chartered Institute of Journalists (CIoJ) and the Institute of Directors (IoD). She was a Trustee of Richmond Borough Mind for five years.

Technology sector: Kim started her career in sales and marketing positions in the technology sector working with Comshare Inc, Honeywell (now Groupe Bull) and Logica. She is reluctant to admit that she learned to code in Fortran and Cobol and fell in love with fourth generation languages and relational database technology.

In-house business development and strategic consultancy: She then worked in-house in senior marketing and business development roles at Deloitte management consultants (then it was called Touche Ross) and Nabarro Nathanson solicitors (now part of CMS) before establishing her own firm in January 1994. She provides consultancy advice (including acting as a locum Business Development Director) as well as training and coach-mentoring services. She was a Non-Executive Director of E A Shaw, Anderton Gables and Earl Kendrick.

Professional services clients: She has since worked for over 300 clients including: law firms, barristers chambers, patent and trade mark attorneys, accountancy practices, insolvency practitioners, actuaries, surveyors, agents and property professionals, forensic scientists, educational establishments, psychologists, marketing services agencies, management consultants, financial services companies, national associations and publishers. She has also worked with not-for-profit, educational and media organisations.

Coaching, lecturing and training: Kim has provided training for public and inhouse courses for over 20 years. She was a part-time lecturer on post graduate marketing courses for the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Cambridge Marketing College (where she is a tutor for a dozen Level 6 Marketing Manager apprentices). She currently delivers several courses for MBL and over 20 courses for the Professional Marketing Forum where she is the lead trainer. Her training assignments are often part of a strategy or change management programme and she is also called upon to provide coaching services to support implementation and performance improvement.

Content: Writing, books and publications: She writes articles as a freelance journalist for a number of legal, marketing and property magazines and a leading London portal for whom she reviews restaurants and entertainment. She has written seven books:

Personal: Kim raised her two now grown children (one runs businesses in the Middle East and the other is a digital marketing expert) as a single mum. She is a social media enthusiast and, now that injuries prevent her pursuing martial arts, plays tennis and attends Zumba and Pilates classes. She has a passion for deep sea and river fishing. Originating in Fulham and living most of her life in Twickenham, she regularly attended international rugby matches. She was volunteer co-creator and co-editor of Whitton Village Facebook community page which she grew to over 10,000 followers. She was a Trustee of Richmond Borough Mind. She has a small dog called Bertie, previously having owned cats and an axolotl. She relocated to Folkestone in Kent in 2024. A remaining ambition is to publish a novel.
