The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) requires Members and Fellows to complete CPD (Continuing Professional Development) every year to retain their Chartered Marketer Status. As a Fellow of CIM, I’m happy to report that I have completed mine for July 2024 – June 2025 and can retain the designation for the next year. It’s particularly pleasing as it is but one of several CPD commitments I must fulfil to retain my other professional designations – particularly for my psychotherapy practice. CPD and Chartered Marketer status renewed

Global Professional Marketing Framework

The Global Professional Marketing Framework was recently updated: CIM Global Professional Marketing Framework | CIM (and thegpmf.pdf). It’s interesting to see how the marketing profession is evolving by looking at prior frameworks and standards:

For CPD, Fellows are required to write four comprehensive reflective statements relating to the following topics (it’s interesting that there isn’t a specific topic on strategy although it is inferred in several categories):

Leadership and Management Change Management – Ted Lasso leadership lessons, emotions

Digital agility

Proposition development

Customer experience

Commercial Context and curiosity drive commerciality and pricing

Data & Insight

Brand & Reputation Book review – Managing Brands

Marketing communications

  • Integration
  • Multi-channel
  • Content
  • Communications strategy

This year, I selected topics in:

Monitoring the external environment (Commercial – External influences)

Updating knowledge of LinkedIn in B2B and personal branding (Digital agility – Channels)

Improving writing and storytelling skills (Marketing Communications – Content)

Keeping up to date on AI in marketing (Digital Agility – Artificial Intelligence)
